The insistence by liberals claiming that Europe, the United States, and other Western civilizations must adopt policies of multiculturalism and radical inclusion in order to remain relevant in the continuously adapting socio-cultural landscape of the 21st century rings through the halls of postmodernism. Perhaps no voice rings clearer than that of Barbara L. Spectre, a Jerusalem-based academic and founding director of Paideia, the European Institute for Jewish Studies in Sweden, a non-denominational academic institute established in 2001 and funded by the Swedish government.

“I think there is a resurgence of anti-Semitism because at this point in time Europe has not yet learned how to be multicultural. And I think we are going to be part of the throes of that transformation, which must take place. Europe is not going to be the monolithic societies they once were in the last century. Jews are going to be at the centre of that. It’s a huge transformation for Europe to make. They are now going into a multicultural mode and Jews will be resented because of our leading role.”

The throes of transformation that is constantly endorsed as an honorable acceptance of all minority groups into the normal day-to-day life of the European experience is a forced one. It is not an organic upheaval or instance of natural migration from one land to another. It is a forced, painful, and ultimately devastating plan crafted by the political elite out of a growing distaste for traditional Western society and values. Nationalism, religion, and social norms are looked down upon by liberal for being stifling and broadminded, and such an understanding is the result of the Enlightenment.

Why can Europe not exist a monolithic society? To claim that a people does not have the right to exist monolithically is to take away a civilization’s right to self-determination, that is, to exist as a people rather than a collective minority within a larger melting pot. I am rather certain that Spectre (recorded above) would not apply her opposition towards European nationalism to the Nation of Israel, which is adamantly far-right in terms of immigration. Perhaps Jewish extremists such as Spectre can practice what they preach and dismantle their own monolithic society: Israel.

Multiculturalism has introduced a multitude of social issues to Western civilization. Disease, rape, pedophilia, and violent crime are all linked to the massive influx of minorities into historically European country. The prescription to this problem is not, as some might claim, a submission to the inevitable and blind acceptance of these atrocities in the name of “cultural enrichment.”

The events that we have been seeing more and more of revolve around the foundational assumption that Western civilization can thrive without Western peoples. The achievements of Western civilization are astounding, relatively speaking. Healthcare, systematic philosophical and theological frameworks, universities, and the very concept of “moving forward” itself all stems from Western traditions and values, juxtaposed to inferior cultures that find themselves incapable of stabilizing a coherent governmental system. The belief that any of the above achievements can be sufficiently maintained or further cultivated without the existence of Western peoples is preposterous.

The West requires Westerners. If a man builds for himself a house, it is only right that he sees to it that it is properly taken care of. He would be incredibly unwise if he neglected its upkeep and allowed visitors within the structure without his permission or acknowledgement, because such visitors would understandably value the builder’s house far less than the builder himself, who has poured sweat, blood, and tears into the construction of the building. Although the builder can make discernments regarding visitors and permit the passing in and out of the structure to various individuals or groups depending on his private judgments, it is equally unwise for visitors to eject the builder out of his own building. If the builder is ejected from that which he has built in the cryptic name of revolution, then who is there who can understand the structure better than he? It is the same with Westerners, being the builder(s), Western civilization, being the building, and immigrants, being the visitors.

Yet, today we see an army of visitors insisting on the ejection of the builder. Whereas modern society would trample upon the builders of houses, claiming that such men are not inclusive or embracing of visitors, traditionalism sought for every man to be a builder, and encouraged permanence over change. But, in the end, and as Europe will soon understand one way or another, the West needs Westerners. The house needs its builder.
