According to one strong independent black woman, racism is to blame for the latest culture war where her house, cars, and other property were all spray-painted with the word “Nigga.” Nakea Darisaw took to Facebook to express her anger when she stepped outside only to see that her property had been vandalized.

“I live off of C-25 in Belleview and woke up to my home and vehicles vandalized with racial slurs on them and the word GO written on my front door. The woods in the back of my home were set on fire as well as my phone lines were cut outside. If anyone has any information please contact Marion County Sheriffs office. My children have been terrified by this.”

Though there are several pictures of several different vandalized items, there is absolutely no photo evidence that suggests a fire broke out or that the phone lines were cut. If her children are terrified of something like this, they’re going to have a hard time coping with situations more threatening than this. Even as a kid who struggled with anxiety, I would have laughed at this. The writing looks like something a thug kid would do as a prank, not a racist/white supremacist. One man commented on the post saying:

“Even if I was a racist, even if I hated black people to the core, I wouldn’t go to their house and do this.”

Nakea Darisaw gained a lot of social media attention. After going viral, people started posting on her wall blaming a “still racist” society for all of her troubles. Some offered to help her paint, while others offered their thoughts and prayers. Darisaw seems to be happily riding the coattails of her fame, as she makes posts about it on a daily basis. She also created a GoFundMe page which as thus far raised over 7,000 dollars. She says on the site:

“Our home and vehicles was vandalized while we were sleep. My children and I were terrified. We are looking to come up with enough money to repair the damages endured on my home as well as my vehicles. Anything Helps and will be truly appreciated.”

Some people on Facebook have been accusing her of doing the deed herself as a means to gain popularity and plant seats of hatred and fear towards white people. To that, she posted the following update:

“Goodmorning everyone, it sort of hurts me to know that some people can be so cruel with their comments regarding my family circumstances. I have a past yes but who doesn’t I am not ashamed of anything because it has helped me to be the strong person that I am today… I am not a thug or drug dealer but an educated business woman. Please know everyone that if God was able to change me of all people he can change anyone. I am not a respecter of person. I have NEVER in life asked or had anyone to ever do anything for me until now.”

After she defended herself from all those “mean racist white trolls,” She continued (or continues rather) to suck up all the attention and sympathy she’s getting while trying to play it off as a saint. Eventually, her 15 minutes of fame will be over (unless a bunch of kids come and write the word “nigga” on her house again) and she will go back to being just another woman who always wants to be a victim instead of a victor.

Using your platform to promote fear and hatred is wrong, and it’s the very thing people like her claim they don’t want. Stop it. Take responsibility, don’t promote anger, and don’t treat yourself as a helpless, oppressed victim. This is not how we make America great.
