Google Keyword ‘Murderer’ Shows Only Pictures of White Men

With all the firestorm surrounding Google as of late, it shouldn’t be a surprise to learn that Google is increasingly pushing towards diversity. However, it seems like that only extends where Google wants it to. It certainly seems like they don’t want it to extend to certain search results. Specifically, any image searches for negative words. Take a look at what an image search for the term “murderer” returns as the top result.

As you can see, there’s not much diversity among that group. Now, surely relevance is a factor here. Google could be forgiven if the vast majority of murderers were white men. However, this is not the case. FBI statistics show that only 47% of murders in the U.S. are committed by white people, despite making up over 60% of the population. Yet somehow, according to Google the most common portrayal of a murderer is a white man. Unsurprisingly, there are no calls for diversity here.

With all the controversy surrounding Google lately, it’s becoming difficult to take anything they say seriously in the context of things like this. It certainly speaks to some of the problems with our culture. So many mindlessly sacrificing truth or refusing to acknowledge differences between people for the sake of diversity. These people, almost always on the left, are complete hypocrites in how they treat people. They shout that we’re all equal and deserve equal treatment, then go out and put minorities on a pedestal because of supposed oppression.

How many times have we heard the cries of Hollywood “whitewashing” films? These people seek to control culture and force their ideology on others through use of force and shame. Former Google employee James Damore was just fired after releasing his anti-diversity manifesto internally to Google employees. He was shamed and fired for it by some coworkers and the executives at Google. According to Damore in his interview with Jordan Peterson, his yearly reviews were superb. He was an exemplary employee. Yet expressing an opinion contrary to the norm was enough to get him fired.

It’s clear that our society has moved on from measuring a person’s worth by their contribution to society. Instead, people are judged by their group identity and whether or not they are willing to go along with progressive social ideas, no matter if they are detrimental and blatantly anti-science. Singing the virtues of diversity and multiculturalism is the most effective way to gain social currency in our society today, and it seems Google has made acquisition of such social currency their primary objective. Because of these trends, people are no longer focused on making themselves and society better, but being seen as victims or crusaders for the oppressed.

It’s a dangerous road, and if we’re no longer concerning ourselves with making society better, it’s an unsustainable road. It’s disheartening to see a company that plays such a public role in our society fall into this pattern. We can only hope that Google, and our society as whole, can get back on track. Hopefully, before it’s too late.
