Christmas is nearly upon us, and it wouldn’t be the same without our favorite Christmas movie classics. It’s A Wonderful Life, White Christmas, A Christmas Carol, Elf, and A Charlie Brown Christmas are but a few of our “can’t miss” films. Oh, and of course the infamous film that plays for 24 hours on Christmas day; The Christmas Story.

The classic holiday film The Christmas Story is set in the year 1940, and depicts a young boy growing up and facing the challenges of life such as family issues and bullying. All he wants for Christmas, is an Official Red Ryder Carbine-Action Two-Hundred-Shot Range Model Air Rifle. This is one of those movies that stands alone, we didn’t need to see a live television remake. Unfortunately, we got one anyway, and it was terrible.

In this version presented by Fox, we saw a lot of differences in casting and situations. Instead of Ralphie’s mom being white like in the original, she’s a mixed woman played by Maya Rudolph. There’s also a black Santa Claus, a black Flick (in the original version it’s a white kid who gets triple-dog dared into sticking his tongue on a flagpole), a Hanukah song, and Chinese immigrants who speak perfect English and flawlessly sing Jingle Bells. They completely missed out on the hilarrious “Ra Ra Ra Ra Ra, Ra Ra Ra Ra” joke.

“What’s wrong with that?!” Screams the triggered liberal. “The cast is diverse, which reflects the way our country so desperately wants to go!” Evidently, not so much.

The three-hour live musical was seen by 4.5 million viewers and delivered a 1.5 rating among adults 18-49. And yes, I said musical. People on social media were not at all shy about voicing their opinions.

They managed to ruin ‘A Christmas Story’.

Just watched the live version of Christmas Story and all I can say was it was awful, Fox took a beloved Christmas story and drug it through the dirt. The story was bad, the acting was worse and the fact they tried to make it a make it a musical makes me sick

I’m gonna have to watch the entire 24hr marathon of A Christmas Story to forget this dumpster fire called A Christmas Story Live

I order them at once to stop this abomination and apologize to all of us they have duped into believing this would be watchable. Simply deplorable!

Oh fudge.

But why were the ratings so low? How did these ratings manage to make The Christmas Story 2 look like a good movie? The forceful narrative of diversity may have a lot to do with it. As opposed to the original, this cast was more diverse and the dialogue was more politically correct. The problem with this, is it’s historically inaccurate. Shows such as Game Of Thrones, Mad Men, and Sons Of Anarchy, (where black men are not even allowed to join their MC) are successful because they are historically accurate or culturally accurate, they don’t force an agenda on us, and they have great actors and storylines.

At the end of the day, people just want to watch their shows without having agendas shoved in their face. Maybe social justice isn’t as popular as everyone thinks.
