2017 white house correspondents' dinner

The 2017 White House Correspondents’ Dinner was a complete failure from beginning to end. The entire dinner represented how out of touch the mainstream media is with mainstream America.

What came together at the 2017 White House Correspondents’ Dinner was an exclusive club of mainstream media billionaire moguls, chief executives, anchors, and reporters who THINK that they are funny. But watching the performances at this year’s dinner was like watching the premiere episode of Bill Nye‘s new Netflix series: an embarrassment to watch. Jokes fell flat, the speakers were dull, and the speeches illustrated that the mainstream media still hates Donald Trump and all conservatives.

Trump chose not to attend the exclusive mainstream media event. Instead, he opted to hang out with the people who the MSM ignored for the entire 2016 election cycle. Trump went to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to be among the people who elected him: working class voters.

As expected, the speakers and comedians at the 2017 White House Correspondents’ Dinner came up with some pretty lame jokes. They called Steve Bannon a ‘Nazi’ and mocked Trump’s ‘orange’ skin.

We’ve heard these ‘jokes’ before.

At their safe space dinner, attendees wore pins that read “First Amendment,” meant to show that they are victims of Donald Trump’s continued attacks against them.

Speaker after speaker made statements against Trump, including Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward.

Even the president of the White House Correspondents’ Association, Jeff Mason, openly rebuked Donald Trump in a prepared, somber statement.

The exclusive gathering of moguls, executives, and overpaid anchors applauded and cheered Mason as he denouced Trump and claimed that the mainstream media is not fake, is not failing, and is not the enemy of the American people.

Mason implied that First Amendment freedoms of the press are threatened in the U.S. because of Donald Trump.

”It is our job to report on facts and to hold leaders accountable. That is who we are. We are not fake news. We are not failing news organizations. And we are not the enemy of the American people.

“At previous dinners we have rightly talked about the threats to press freedom abroad. Tonight we must recognize that there are threats to press freedoms here in the United States.”

Let’s not forget that Barack Obama, adored by the mainstream media, targeted press freedoms more than any other president in history. This prompted the Daily Beast to pen a column criticizing Obama’s actions to squelch freedom of speech and the press. Did the White House Correspondents’ Dinner wear “First Amendment” pins to protest Obama’s war on journalists?

No they didn’t.
