It’s been a little over a year since Donald Trump was elected, and not even a year since he’s served. Yet democrats are already trying to wrap their brains around who will run against their “fascistic” president. So far, the number of predicted candidates reaches around thirty people. But as we all know, only one can go toe to toe with Trump. Who’s the democrat’s number one choice? It’s Bernie Sanders.
Bernie Sanders is the democratic socialist who ran for office in 2016, but was cheated the opportunity to go one on one with Trump after the primaries. Thanks Hillary Clinton…
Now would I vote for Bernie Sanders over Trump? Highly unlikely, but his party really seems to like him. With an approval rating of 75%, he is labeled as the most popular politician of today. Advisers to the senator have said that Sanders is definitely considering running in the 2020 election.
“His people have never gone away,” Democratic strategist Brad Bannon said. “And he has a loyal core following out there that will be with him come hell or high water.” Also a winner for Sanders, is the leftward leanings of the Democratic Party. Classic democrats dwindle in numbers, as do the classic Republicans. With each side shifting further and further, it’s very likely that democrats would accept and vote for a socialist candidate. “The Sanders wing is becoming the dominant wing of the party,” Brad Bannon added.
Bernie Sanders is 76 now, by the time 2020 roles around, he’ll be 79. If he wins the election, he will be 80 years old and the oldest president ever to be sworn into office (that title is currently held by Donald Trump and previously by Ronald Reagan). His age may play a key factor in the campaign. After all, don’t the democrats always complain about “old white men” holding office? Bernie Sanders is very white, very old, and very much a man.
Others like former Vice President Joe Biden, Senator Elizabeth Warren, and Senator Kamala Harris have also been considered to be potential candidates. However, none of them but Sanders have the people on their feet and excited for the next election. As for myself and many others on the right, we will either be voting for Trump or a third party candidate, this Marxist socialism is not something we want to see come to pass.
