Trump is on a roll once again. After his majority unpopular decision to sign the $1.3 trillion omnibus bill, sending him into a 42% approval rating, Trump made yet another bold proclamation on Twitter; DACA is dead. This morning we were told that since yesterday, Trump’s approval ratings have jumped to 50%. Though the tweets came from Trump on April Fools day, we can rest assured that the President has never been more serious.

“Border Patrol Agents are not allowed to properly do their job at the Border because of ridiculous liberal (Democrat) laws like Catch & Release. Getting more dangerous. “Caravans” coming. Republicans must go to Nuclear Option to pass tough laws NOW. NO MORE DACA DEAL!”

“Mexico is doing very little, if not NOTHING, at stopping people from flowing into Mexico through their Southern Border, and then into the U.S. They laugh at our dumb immigration laws. They must stop the big drug and people flows, or I will stop their cash cow, NAFTA. NEED WALL!”

“These big flows of people are all trying to take advantage of DACA. They want in on the act!”

The series of Trump tweets show that the President is once again focused on building the wall that was promised to us since the beginning of his campaign. The following morning, Trump continued to showcase the same attitude towards DACA, blaming Democrats for turning what he once thought to be a great idea, into a system for criminals.

“DACA is dead because the Democrats didn’t care or act, and now everyone wants to get onto the DACA bandwagon… No longer works. Must build Wall and secure our borders with proper Border legislation. Democrats want No Borders, hence drugs and crime!”

Since his bold proclamation, Trump has shot higher up in approval ratings. As it stands today, Trump is now at a 50% approval rating, which puts him ahead of his predecessor Obama (46%) at the same point in the presidency. Honestly, this likely has a lot to do with his abandonment of DACA. The vast majority of Trump supporters don’t care about the issue and instead concern themselves more over whether or not a wall is actually going to be built. DACA is not MAGA and Trump voters have been long fed up with our current immigration laws.

After the signing of the omnibus bill, voters felt as though they had been betrayed, causing Trump’s approval rating to drop significantly. But now that DACA is dead and the wall is coming back up in conversation, voters have a restored hope. Trump may have just redeemed himself and secured his victory for a second term.
