Late Monday, according to Syria’s state media, Syrian air defenses had been activated in response to missile attacks targeting at least two air bases. One in Homs and another base near Damascus. According to a SANA reporter, Syrian air defenses managed to intercept some of the projectiles.
What’s worse, is that Russians were likely inside of one of these targeted Airbases. Reports from a field source in Damascus stated that the targeted Dumayr Airport is allegedly filled with Russian military personnel, although Russia has yet to confirm any deaths.
With all of this going on for hours now, the mainstream media seems to be remaining completely silent. Meanwhile, twitter has been exploding with reports from countless trusted Middle Eastern sources in the area.
What we do know, is that the U.S is not responsible for these attacks. According to a Pentagon spokesman via Reuters, there was no U.S military activity in that area at the time. However, an Israeli military spokesman has declined to comment “on such reports”.
I wonder who could be responsible for such attacks? This is about a week after two Israeli fighters targeted another one of Syria’s airbases in Homs, Tiyas. Is it really so unbelievable to think the same country is coordinating the recent attacks in Homs?
Reports from Al-Masdar News indicated the Israeli Air Force could likely be involved, as the missiles entered Syrian airspace from Lebanon. Several videos were also published from the outlet showing what appears to be interceptor missiles being launched as well.
Let’s hope we hear more than radio silence from our own media outlets soon.
